This course is about developing an engineering insight into the forces on mechanical systems and their components, when the deformations are small enough that the system or components can modeled as rigid bodies. Particle and finite rigid bodies in static and moving systems are considered, and the course develops student skills to work with vectors, dimensional quantities, and automated matrix algebra programming software (MATLAB).
